As we discussed in class before, many elephants and rhinos are being hunted for their valuable tusks. Though recently 11 elephants that were discovered by Zimbabwean national park officials have been poisoned by poachers using cyanide. To my surprise these elephants were all poisoned in Hwange National Park. I don’t understand how even the protected animals are being hunted, even though they are supposed to be under protection by the government. I personally think someone in the national park was working with them trying to somehow get paid.
