The Million Man March was a gathering of African-American men in Washington, D.C., on Oct 16, 1995. It was organized by Louis Farrakhan and The National African American Leadership Summit, the Nation of Islam and civil rights organizations. The national director of the march was Benjamin Chavis Jr., the founder of the National African American Leadership Summit. Thousands stood tall for the anger in many African American communities over the killing of young black men. The leader of the nation of Islam Lous Farrakhan also spoke to the large crowd that was spread out over the lawn and in front of the capitol also.
